    Information for Pilots

Cedar Key airport from above. Cedar Key airport (KCDK) viewed from aloft. The Cedar Key Haven beach house is located to the south of the approach end of runway 23. Click for a larger version.
As pilots, we have found the convenience of Cedar Key Haven to be unsurpassed. You can taxi right out in front of Cedar Haven and walk directly home. It is a well-protected spot, even in high winds, and we usually haven't found it necessary to tie down our Cessna 172. To park, just taxi off of the approach end of 23 and within 50 feet, turn left with your wheels in the middle of the dirt road at which time you will be facing the gates to Cedar Key Haven. Once your starboard wing has passed the topless palm tree trunk, make a rather quick 180 degree turn in the grass to the left and park facing the runway for an easy departure. If you prefer, there is also a paved apron at the approach end of Runway 5 with some tie-downs. Try to avoid taxiing over the grass area to exit the runway as it is sugar sand in many places. Planes get stuck there quite often.

Cedar Key airport is located 1 mile west of Cedar Key and both sides of the runway are flanked by trees. NOTE: Taxiway closed to aircraft; it is now used as a public road, but it can be used as described for parking in front of Cedar Key Haven.

Be aware that night landings are not recommended if you are unfamiliar with the airport as it is easy to become disoriented off of runway 5 out over the ocean. Also, the field is on the short side, but is easy to get in and out of in the average light piston-powered airplane.

Transportation: Taxi can be contacted on CTAF or by phone, 543-6115.
